Privacy policy

This website

This site is a static website. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, includes no advertising or tracking scripts, and has no login or contact form. There is nothing for you to opt out of.

The site is delivered through Amazon CloudFront and Amazon S3. Like any web server, these record standard request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and operational purposes.

Page fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers and Google receives your IP address as part of it. That is the only third-party request this site makes. If you would rather it did not, a content blocker will stop it and the site will still work.

What I collect

I collect personal information only where it is needed to do the work:

• Contact details you give me — name, email address, phone number, business name and address — when you get in touch or engage me.
• Engagement records — correspondence, quotes, invoices and payment records.
• Client system access — credentials and access to systems I am engaged to build, operate or maintain.

I do not collect or store payment card details. Card payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe's own infrastructure, and card numbers never reach me.

How I use it

To respond to enquiries, quote and perform work, issue invoices and take payment, provide support, and meet record-keeping obligations under Australian tax law. I do not sell personal information, and I do not use it for marketing to you beyond replying to what you asked about.

Client data

Where I build or operate a system that holds personal information about your own customers or staff, I handle that data only as needed to perform the engagement, under the confidentiality obligations in the terms of service. You remain responsible for your own privacy obligations to those people.

Who else sees it

I disclose personal information only to:

• service providers used to run this business — email and document hosting, cloud infrastructure, accounting software and payment processing;
• my accountant, where required for tax and compliance; and
• anyone else where you have agreed, or where the law requires it.

Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States. Engaging me means accepting that, where it is necessary to provide the service.

Storage and security

Information is held in reputable cloud services with access control and encryption in transit. I take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, though no system can be guaranteed absolutely secure.

Records are kept while the engagement is active and afterwards for as long as Australian tax and record-keeping law requires, generally five years. After that they are deleted.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask what personal information I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted where I am not required to keep it. Email bishal@bishaldhakal.com and I will respond within one business day and act within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your personal information, tell me first and I will try to resolve it. If you are still unsatisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version is published on this page with a new date.
